Event Description: Accelerate Okanagan and TD Canada Trust presents Women in Tech: Coding Camp. This half-day workshop will be lead by Women for Women. You will learn the basics of programming HTML and CSS: the backbone of all websites. If you’re interested in blogging, email marketing or even starting learning development, this is the morning you have been waiting for! It is a great way to open the door to opportunities and immerse yourself in tech. Get hands-on understanding of how HTML and CSS turn the web into a fun, funky, and functional place. We’ve broken it down into easy-to-learn pieces that everyone, even non-programmers, can learn: Programming language basics How HTML and CSS work together Use HTML and CSS to develop a website Skill Level: Beginner If you can open a web browser and do basic online functions like checking email, you have the skill level to join us. Requirements: Bring your laptop that can connect to wi-fi What’s Included? A small class with knowledgeable and seasoned instructors A hands-on and inclusive learning environment A great venue (@okcolab) Coffee, tea, and a morning snack Your Instructors: Constance Crompton: Constance is an assistant professor of Digital Humanities and English in the Department of Critical Studies in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies at UBC Okanagan. Sarah Stang: Sarah is a librarian who dabbles in making, building, and creating things. She is an information expert, a keen observer, and gets things done, with a smile and with celebration! Cynthia Gunsinger: Cynthia helps entrepreneurs, creatives, technicals and adventurers who constantly push boundaries plan for their business in a way that is as creative as they are, and win the mind game along the way.
