Event Description: Entrepreneurs Unplugged features an experienced entrepreneur who shares his/her start-up experiences. Community members will have an opportunity to learn how a successful start up is created, as well as the chance to ask questions to the guest entrepreneur and network with members of the local entrepreneurial community. On March 2nd, as part of the Entrepreneurs Unplugged interview series, Mogens Smed, CEO of DIRTT Environmental Solutions and Scott Jenkins, President of DIRTT Environmental Solutions, tell their story. DIRTT Environmental Solutions (Doing It Right This Time) uses a proprietary 3D software platform to design, price, specify and produce custom prefab interiors. DIRTT builds large and small corporate, government, educational and healthcare projects all over the world. Past guests have included Brenda Gershkovitch, Ryan Holmes, Steve Blank, Geoffrey Moore, Rasool Rayani, Jonathan Wolske, Sascha Williams, Robert Reich, Lane Merrifield and Lance Priebe. Each session will be hosted in the Streaming Cafe and will be streamed live online. Started in 2005, DIRTT has grown by 20 percent each year with thousands of projects around the world ranging from commercial offices to healthcare environments to schools. In the 1970s Mogens Smed, following in his cabinetmaker father’s footsteps, started in the office furniture business. In the mid-nineties SMED International became a publicly traded company. In 2000 SMED International was bought for $300 million by Haworth Inc. Mogens stayed on for a few years before moving to Evans Consoles in the role of CEO where he met Gosling and Loberg. Mogens was named Environmental Champion by Interiors & Sources magazine in 2004 because of his drive to stop corporate environments in their vicious cycle of procure, build and demolish, part of the conventional approach to building out interiors. Scott Jenkins, President of DIRTT Environmental Scott Jenkins has been the President of DIRTT since January 24, 2012 and its Interim Chief Financial Officer since August 2014. Mr. Jenkins served as the Chief Financial Officer of Pure Technologies Ltd., until June 30, 2006. Scott Jenkins has over 17 years of experience with technology companies, the financial management industry and accountancy profession. He has been a part of the DIRTT team since 2007.
