Event Description: Be a recycling SOUPerhero this Earth Day by bringing your unwanted electronics to 1-800-GOT-JUNK?’s free disposal event. The following items will be accepted for free recycling: • TVs • Computers and their components • Printers • Video game systems • Cables • Small kitchen appliances (mixers, coffee makers, microwave ovens, coffee grinders, electric grills, toasters, etc.) • Batteries (including car batteries) • …and almost anything with a cable! This is also a chance to donate to the Kelowna Food Bank. We’ll be collecting donations of non-perishables – just drop them off in the blue and green junk trucks. On-site shredding of confidential documents will also be available, provided by Okanagan Paper Shredding ($5/banker box). BACKGROUND: 2015 marks the eight year 1-800-GOT-JUNK? will offer free electronic recycling in recognition of Earth Day. Last year, we recycled 6 tonnes of electronics, collected 240 lbs of food and over $300 in cash for the food bank, and shredded 2 tonnes of paper. This year, we’re hoping heroes come out to help us do even more! This year’s partners include Planet Earth Recycling, Organizing Help and Okanagan Paper Shredding.
