Event Description: On Wednesday, March 9th, Urban Matters CCC is hosting a community happening! Please join us for an evening of sharing and insight into the world of Social Innovation and Social Change. Our event is an ‘unlaunch’ of IMPACT: Six Patterns to Spread Your Social Innovation, by Al Etmanski. IMPACT explores the difference between short term success, and lasting impact. It’s for those who have wondered why, despite our best efforts, talent, and money, we have not made as big of a dent in social and environmental challenges as we would like. As Severin Cullis-Suzuki says, in her exquisite foreword to the book, "My question has changed from ‘how can I change the world,’ to ‘why isn’t it working?’" IMPACT profiles more than 50 Canadians who are achieving lasting social impact, looking past quick wins and surface-level victories, to pay attention to deeper patterns of change. Our hope is that this book will shine a light on the good work Canadians have done, are doing, and will do, to move the dial, change the paradigm, tip the system and achieve lasting social impact. Highlights of the evening will include dialogue with Al Etmanski, poetry, art, and live music. Tickets are available for $10.00 which will be distributed to the local artists involved. A copy of Al Etmanski's book "IMPACT: Six Patterns to Spread Your Social Innovation" (retail price: $17.50) will be given to the first 125 attendees.
