Event Description: PADDLE FOR PREVENTION! Try Stand Up Paddleboarding for a great cause - participate in the 2nd annual Pihl Law Paddle for Prevention fundraiser on Sunday August 7th at Rotary Beach in Kelowna, in support of BrainTrust Canada and brain injury prevention and education. Registration ends Midnight August 4th. The event will be a FUN FAMILY event with teams of 4 individuals on beautiful Okanagan Lake. Here is how the day will look: 8am - 8:45am - Registration 8:30am - Moksha Yoga Warm Up 9am - Noon - Relays (4 people): Family teams, Friend teams and Corporate teams 10:30am - 2pm - BBQ for participants by sponsors COSTCO and Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club (extra tickets available at $5 each at event). 1pm - Awards Ceremony, 50/50 draw & PRIZES! Other event features include kids' activities with a 20' Kraken inflatable stand up paddleboard provided by Kelowna Paddle Centre to splash around on. REGISTER EARLY! ENTRY FEE - $25 per adult ($30 commencing July 25) & $20 for youth (18 and under) RESTRICTIONS: You must be in teams of 4. Minimum age for participation is 7 years. Family teams must include one participant under 18. Corporate teams must have at least 1 member of the opposite sex. REGISTRATION INCLUDES: Participation in event, use of a board/paddle, Personal Flotation Device (PFD), bag full of goodies from sponsors and BBQ Lunch! MAJOR incentive prizes for fundraising in support of Brain Trust Canada - see PRIZE tab PLUS all youth entered for a chance to win a prize package from the Kelowna Rockets. ALL PARTICIPANTS are eligible to purchase a $20 one hour Stand up Paddleboard lesson (regularly priced at $60)! Lessons provided by the Kelowna Paddle Centre available 2-4pm on either July 2, 9, 23 or 30th Contact Tamlyn at [email protected] You even get sunglasses and a tote bag just for registering! Image BUY AN EXPERT PADDLER! Teams can purchase an expert paddler to race with their team for $200. Contact Magda Kapp at [email protected] *Limited number of 'experts' available! RACE COURSE DETAILS Image The course will have 4 or 5 lanes (depending on the number of participants) and will be a race around the buoys in the water (approx. 50yrds away) and back on a paddleboard. This years' event will be for teams with 4 individual members only, each of the 4 team members will go once using only one board that will be passed to the next racer in line. The races will not be timed, but the top group out of each heat (maybe top 2) will advance to the next round. Fun! NOTE: Boards and paddles will be provided for all participants. Don't forget to keep fundraising for a great cause and costumes are encouraged!
