Event Description: Recent changes to the Worker’s Compensation Act require new levels of due diligence and accountability for employers regarding the mental health of employees, regardless of an organizations’ size or sector. This session will help employers understand more about mental disorders providing a legal, Human Resource and a psychological perspective. Strategies and resources will be presented from the Canadian Mental Health Association and the National Standard on Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. This workshop will also provide an overview of the new WorkSafeBC regulations as well as the duties for employers, supervisors and workers regarding bullying and harassment in the workplace. This is timely as the bullying and harassment policies come into effect on November 1, 2013. This workshop will also provide a fast paced and engaging ARETE presentation that will explore the essential elements of effectively managing conflict and responding to unwanted co-worker behaviours, including bullying, personal harassment, lateral and customer violence.
