Event Description: Sugar Skull Strut Live music by MAZACOTE • Costume Strut • Kinshira Fire Poi Black Light Lounge • Prizes • Photo booth • Cash Bar El Día de los Muertos or 'Day of the Dead' is the inspiration for Sugar Skull Strut Sugar Skull Strut is inspired by El Día de los Muertos or 'Day of the Dead', a traditionally festive time of year in Mexico which honors past souls and loved ones. This second annual (19+) event is not costume mandatory - dress it up or dress it down! And if you wish to Strut your Sugar Skull best, we will have a red carpet photographer to post your beautiful faces to our Facebook Page for a week's worth of People's Choice voting and prizes. Sugar Skull Strut features MAZACOTE, a hard hitting six piece latin dance band, playing horn-driven New York salsa dura and beats from Colombia, Puerto Rico and Cuba. Based in Vancouver, the band features Nicaraguan singer-songwriter David Lopez, latin jazz trumpeter Malcolm Aiken and a groove-heavy rhythm section featuring Chris Couto on timbales, Miguel Benavides on Congas, Aaron McKinney on bass, and pianist Niho Takase.
